Description

Hamodactylus pseudaqabai is a small-sized shrimp belonging to the family Palaemonidae. The finger of this species is greatly reduced to a small but distinct stub, while the telson bears only a single pair of dorsal spines. The species epithet is derived from two words, the prefix pseudo in Greek meaning false, while the suffix –aqabai is the species name used for H. aqabai, a very similar species from the Red Sea. H. pseudaqabai is distributed in the northeastern and southwestern Sulawesi and Ambon in Indonesia and Sabah, Malaysia (Horká et al., 2016).
