Description
The dipterocarp species, Meranti Batu is an emergent tree that can reach 1.1 m in diameter. It is widely distributed in lowland forests of Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra and Borneo (Sabah, Sarawak and Kalimantan) (Chua et al., 2010; Yong et al., 2011). This species produces light red meranti timber. It is categorized as Vulnerable due to harvesting and habitat loss to land conversion (Yong et al., 2011).
