This fungus has dry cap and the cap is convex becoming plane, pinkish to dark red with small dark brown tomentose patches , cracking exposing the yellow flesh and resembling ‘plums and custard’. The flesh is white to pale yellow turning blue upon exposure while the stipe is cylindrical but sometimes curved, pinkish to a dull and dark red with embedded dark brown fibrils. This fungus generally fruits on the forest floor but sometimes are found fruiting on the lower portion of tree trunks.
