Description

As an arboreal snake species, having a head that resembles a leaf makes Ahaetulla prasina or the oriental whip snake a very well camouflaged animal. The oriental whip snake has a very slender body and its colour is usually green, but it can also be brown, yellow or bluish. This snake is unique because of its horizontal pupils which give it exceptional eyesight.  It preys mostly on lizards and frogs and inhabits forested areas up to 2,100m across south and Southeast Asia. Its young are born in litters of 4-10; the newborn is about 35cm long and resembles the adults.
