The Puff-faced Water Snake or Banded Water Snake is a stout-bodied snake that lives in water (Das, 2010). For adult snake, the bands will be less visible while in young snakes, they are very brightly coloured. The head of this species is orange or light brown with black and orange bands on the body. The colour fades as it reaches adulthood and the snake become grey or brown in colour. The venom of this rear-fanged snake is not dangerous to humans and may only cause itching.
