Kalophrynus pleurostigma is a small frog with a pointed snout and its head wider than long. This species has distinct tympanum, its finger and toe tips are rounded which the first and fourth finger are shorter than the second. This species also has distinct subarticular tubercles. Its legs are little short, its body has various colours range from light to reddish brown and the sides of its head and body is darker brown.
The measurements of snout-vent length grow to 47-58 mm. Commonly, the habitats of this species are primary and old secondary forest as well as cultivated area or plantation. In Ulu Muda Forest Reserve, this species can be found on forest trails and under forest litter. The altitudinal range of this species is about 0-1000m. This species can be found in Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.
