Phrynella pulchra is one of the small microhylid frog. The dorsal colour of this species ranges from grey, black, brown or greenish above, with symmetrical darker patches. Meanwhile, the belly and under surface of hind limbs are bright red. The first finger of this species is shorter than the second. The measurement of snout-vent length of this species is up to 35 mm. This species can be found in undisturbed, primary lowland and hill forest. In Ulu Muda Forest Reserve, this species can be found along bank of forest streams. This species occurs in Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand.
