Description
The Brown Tree Frog is a medium-sized tree frog with a pointed, sharp-edged snout. It is known from Borneo including Sabah and Sarawak. This species has been found in primary and old secondary forests in hilly country at low elevations. The measure of males and females can reach about 50-56 mm and 60-70 mm respectively (Inger & Stuebing, 2005).
This species has broadly webbed toes to the base of the pads. Its back skin is finely pebbled or smooth while the belly is coarsely pebbled. There are no ridges or flaps of skin on the limbs. The Brown Tree Frog has reddish brown or clay brown head and back, sometimes has white spots at the side of its head, greenish yellow at the sides and the hidden surfaces of the legs, and dark brown or black webbing fingers and toes (Inger & Stuebing, 2005). This species is categorized as least concern (LC) by the IUCN Red List due to its wide distribution and presumed large population (IUCN SSC Amphibian Specialist Group, 2019).
