Wild Life Sanctuary. Gazetted under the Wild Animals and Birds Protection Enactment 1925 (Section 7(i)). Also under the Forest Enactment 1918 (Section 25).
There are five gazette notifications pertaining to this area. The first two gazette notifications used the Land Enactment 1918 in which the area was reserved for a public purpose. The size of the original gazettement was 17.28ha and the first excision reduced the area to 17.15ha. The third and fourth gazette notifications were under Forest Enactment 1918 with excision of 1.12ha and 0.02ha, respectively. The area by now was reduced to 16.0ha. The final gazette notifications was under the Wild Animals and Bird Protection Enactment 1925 in which the area was defined by the previous four notifications and exclusive of the Governement quarters compound (lots 548 & 629) and quarters of Forestry Department at Ampang Road. So the area should be less than 16.0ha. However, the location and size of these lots could not be determined. The existing forest area as mapped by the project is 9.77ha and will be used as the provisional size for this protected area until the area has been resurveyed.
